Soul Nourishment as a Path of Devotion

I’m often asked what it means to nourish the soul and how that helps us navigate through change and uncertainty…

I’ll admit that for most of my life I dutifully followed the formula that I was taught to achieve ‘success’. I had the career, the house, the husband, the adorable son…yet my heart and soul were sending me messages that I was not willing to listen to. My life was out of alignment, and I had no language or logic to explain it or fix it. What I didn’t understand at that time was that life, my guides, and the Divine were speaking to me all the time…in various ways that I was not willing to accept because my mind resisted. For so long, I had operated on the premise that my mind had all the answers. It took several years of discomfort, dis-ease, and dismantling to finally get still, get centered, and listen to the wisdom within.

Intuition plays a primary role in our ability to navigate through the overwhelming noise and choices in the world today. Intuition and wisdom speak to us through all of our senses. As we practice tuning into these gifts, we experience the messages on a soul level that open us up to our inner-knowing in an intimate and visceral way.

Learning to trust becomes the compass that leads through faith and grace in something much larger than ourselves. We come into communion with body, mind, spirit in a way that opens us up to see our place in the expansive web of all life.

Everything you need is within you because you are a part of everything. There is no separation.

So how do we change the lens to see and feel with all of our senses?

To trust what can’t be explained?

To see our place in this world as co-creators?

We begin by choosing to be in devotion to the path of discovery, attunement, and alignment to our heart-knowing. This is what it means to nourish the soul.

When we are children, we are ambassadors of Divine Innocence, Love, and Wonder…transcending intellectual analysis and definition. We simply are that we are.

As we move through the world, as seen through the lens of tidy categories of psychological development, we are met with societal norms, constructs and beliefs that slowly cause us to close off from the Essence of who we are and the gifts we carry, so that we can assimilate into our families, communities, and the world around us.

For some of us, there is trauma that closes us off, for others there is simply a series of imperceptible moments that lead to the same outcome – the dimming of our light.

The reasons and storylines are varied and complex. The result is the same.

We become disconnected from ourselves and each other and don’t fully understand why or how it happened. Yet we sense the disconnection from deep within…feeling that we are being called to find answers, we become seekers. Or we continue to resist…

In my experience working with various women, this is the common theme that weaves through our lives.

We yearn to reconnect to that Essence, to the beauty of knowing and moving through this life living from the heart. We are confused by what we’ve been taught to believe because we sense at a cellular level that there is something more. Something that is not a thing but a way of being in the world that once connected to, aligns us so clearly that every choice becomes a blessing and prayer to see the beauty in each moment.

When asked how I bring such knowing into the day-to-day ‘grind’ of life, I trust what is being spoken through my heart as my guide.

To connect we must be willing to get still, to listen with all of our senses – including the sense our being in the world. We have everything we need within us. The Love that connects all things is woven into the matrix of our being – physical, energetic, and spiritual being…

Finding our way through begins by connecting to the Love within.

By connecting – grounding – to the truth of our interconnectedness.

By becoming quiet – to listen with our hearts to the wisdom that brings us back to center.

By becoming present to each moment in a way that is beyond the storyline of our mind – present in a way that is both rooted and expanded to see, feel, be all that is, and choose our way from our heart compass.

As we move through the world in this way, we are reconnected to the intricate web of life all around us that is guiding us in deep wisdom.

We begin by nourishing the soul in devotion to Love.
